Uniform Policy
DRESS CODE
Part of a student’s growth process is learning to dress appropriately; therefore, cleanliness and proper grooming are expected of each student. The complete uniform is to be worn to and from school by all students in Grades K-8. Parents and students are expected to fully cooperate with regard to the regulation uniform, including shoes. Students not in uniform will be issued with a uniform referral slip.
GIRLS: Girls’ uniform (K-4) consists of a white short sleeved blouse and a jumper. Girl’s uniform (Gr. 5-8) shall consist of a white, short sleeved or long sleeved knit shirt (golf shirt style with three buttons) with a ribbed bottom and a uniform skirt (pleated skirt, kick pleat skirt, or split skirt). Girls may wear uniform pants (November 1 to April 30) purchased only through the uniform stores, Schoolbelles Inc., 708-598-8088 in Burbank, IL., Schools Are Us, 773-779-0172 on 111th St., or Martinelli’s, 708-425-6287, in Evergreen Park.
Makeup and nail polish are not permitted. Small earrings (single pair) may be worn by girls with pierced ears. The pierced earring can only be worn in the lobe of the ear not in the cartilage part of the ear. Sweat pants and flannel pants that are worn in cold weather must be removed in school.
Girls may wear uniform shorts from August through September 30 and again May 1 through the end of the school year. These shorts MUST be purchased at the uniform shops listed above.
BOYS: Boys’ uniform shall consist of navy blue dress pants and light blue knit or dress shirt (Cargo pants may not be worn.) Shirts must be tucked into pants. All boys must wear a belt on their pants. Boys may not wear earrings. Boys may wear uniform shorts from August through September 30 and again May 1 through the end of the school year. These shorts MUST be purchased at the uniform shops listed above.
Turtlenecks or colored t- shirts may not be worn under the girls’ uniform blous/shirt or the boys’ uniform shirt. If a tee shirt is worn under a blouse or shirt, it must be plain white.
Sweaters or St. Cajetan gym sweatshirts may be worn with the school uniforms. Red is the sweater color for the girls; boys’ sweaters are navy blue. Only uniform sweaters or sweatshirts may be worn.
SHOES/SOCKS: Leather Dress school shoes or solid black leather gym shoes are to be worn. Shoes with laces must be tied at all times. Boots of any kind, sandals, open-toed or open-heeled shoes, Flip-flops and clogs are not permitted in school at any time. This is a safety issue. Regular Gym shoes are permitted only on gym day. Socks must be crew socks/cuffed socks/ knee socks and should be plain, without designs, white, navy blue, red, gray or black. All socks MUST be above the ankle.
HAIR: Hair should be well groomed- clean and combed. Hair must be natural color. No highlights or lowlights are to be in the hair. Hair should be kept out of eyes. Boys’ hair should be kept trimmed around the ears and above the collar without flips. No shaved sides or severe haircuts.
JEWELRY: No bracelets or necklaces are permitted for boys or girls. The only exception to this would be a small religious medal, crucifix or scapular worn under the shirt or blouse; if rings are worn only one per hand.

Throughout the year, students have opportunities to come to school in non-uniform clothing. On these spirit days if a student chooses not to participate, he/she will be required to wear the school uniform not his/her version of the dress down day. Tank tops and inappropriate tee shirts are not permitted. On thesedays, gym shoes are to be worn.
